Maciej Giedyk has been selected by the Organic Chemistry Division of the Polish Chemical Society as the best Research Article by an early-career researcher based in Poland and published in 2022. Our group proposed a visible-light induced approach for the generation of unstable diazoalkanes/dialkyl carbenes from 1,3,4-oxadiazolines as stable precursors enabled by triplet energy-transfer catalysis. The methodology designed gives access to unstable intermediates under visible light irradiation opening up new possibilities for expanding the diazoalkane chemistry in organic synthesis. Read more

Mikołaj Chromiński attended International Congress of Young Chemists YoungChem2012 during which he had speech on "Protoporphyrin IX/Cobinamide Derived Hybrids Novel Activators of Soluble Guanyl Cyclase" and presented his work on a poster concerning "'Clickable' Vitamin B12".
Dorota Gryko and Mikołaj Chromiński attended Vitamin B12 Symposium in Nancy, France, during which Mikołaj Chromiński delivered presentation entitled "Protoporphyrin IX/Cobinamide Derived Hybrids Novel Activators of Soluble Guanylyl Cyclase".

Our Group Leader Dorota Gryko attended The 7th International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines in Jeju, Korea during which she gave a lecture entitled "Modification of Natural Tetrapyrrole Derivatives: The Quest for New NO-Independent sGC Activators ".

Emil Martin from Institute of Molecular Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston paid us a visit during which he held a seminar about sGC and its activation.

Our Group Leader - Dorota Gryko - attended 8th Korea-Poland Joint Symposium on Organic Chemistry, during which she delivered a presentation entitled
Modification of natural tetrapyrrole derivatives: the quest for new NO-independent sGC activators.
We salute Rafał Loska as he is leaving us on his quest for D.Sc. and hereby welcome Ksenia Maximova as a new post-doc fellow in our group.
Mikołaj Chromiński was awarded with a NCN grant for graduate students. Therefore within a short time he will examine tetrapyrrolic systems indeep, since the title of the grant is Porfiryny w reakcji Huisgena - czy insercja miedzi jest nieunikniona?
With new year starting we welcome on board bew students: Ania Zieleniewska, Kasia, Hubert Bednarski.
Both Ela Maziarz and Dominika Pielacińska did well on the entering exam for Ph.D. students at Insitute of Organic Chemistry. Looking forward to see You back in lab.

D. Sc. Dorota Gryko participated in an international conference:
Multiple Faces of Chemistry: From Marie Curie to Nowadays in Paris.
She gave an Invited Lecture entitled: "Conjugation of protoporphyrin IX with
vitamin B12 - Novel
approach towards NO-free activators of sGC enzyme".

Our TEAM project collaborator Prof. Marie-Francoise Doursout
from The University of Texas Medicinal School at Houston,
Department of Anesthesiology, came to Warsaw.
Her visit was a great opportunity for our team to discuss the role of NO
in living organisms from a medicinal perspective.
Since the new academic year we have had three new students in our team:
Łukasz (who has successfully obtained a position in the TEAM project),
Maciek and Maks .
