CO2CHEM - REDOX-NEUTRAL PHOTOCATALYTIC C-H CARBOXYLATION OF HYDROCARBONS WITH CO2

Description of tasks:

  • studies on a model C-H carboxylation of aliphatic hydrocarbons via single electron-reduction of CO2;
  • evaluation of various dyes;
  • synthesis of cobalt complexes, evaluation of their catalytic efficacy in photo-organo-metal catalysed C-H carbonylation with CO generated in situ;
  • training PhD student

Requirements:

  • PhD in organic or inorganic not earlier than in 2015. This period is extended by the duration of maternity/paternity leaves (according to NSC rules).
  • effective written and oral communication skills in English.
Required competencies:
  • strong skills in organometallic chemistry, experience in photochemistry will be an asset;
  • data analysis and interpretation, especially in trouble shooting during the research;
  • excellent reaction trouble shooting ability;
  • experience in safe handling of air-sensitive materials;
  • ability in design of cobalt-complexes as well as corresponding synthetic pathways, multi-step synthesis, purification, and analysis of metal-complexes and organic molecules;
Desired competencies:
  • creativity, independence and responsibility
  • strong ability to guide and train students in experiment design and operation.

  • scientific achievements measured by the quality and quantity of scientific publications or granted/pending patents
  • knowledge of organic chemistry

  • language knowledge enabling conducting scientific research
