Structural studies of molecules possessing an element of planar chirality have started in 1940's with the synthesis and resolution of 1,12-dioxa[12]paracyclophane.1 The interest in the synthesis of planar-chiral compounds has been rapidly growing since they are used as ligands for transition metal complexes.2 The following question arises: could simple intraannular-arm macrocyclic system exist in enantiopure stable forms?

In this communication we would like to present the synthesis and structure elucidation of four above-mentioned compounds, planar chirality of which originates from a suitably substituted macrocyclic amide.
