How to get to Ustron?

Ustron is located near the southern border of Poland in Beskidy Mountains. This small town can be easily accessed by many means of transportation:

By plain:

70 km from Ustron there is an international airport Katowice - Pyrzowice ( http://www.gtl.com.pl/eng/ ) which is a main base for Vizz Air economy airline ( http://wizzair.com/index.shtml ). Wizz Air flies to many European cities for a very reasonable prices, however sometimes it is not very reliable. Other airlines like Polish Airlines LOT, Centralwings and Lufthansa also fly to Katowice. Situation is changing fast, so please check the most recent information at the Katowice - Pyrzowice airport Internet site.

It is possible also to fly to Warsaw which has a big international airport with good connections to almost all important cities in Europe, as well as many cities in USA and Canada. From Warsaw, Ustron can be reached by a direct train (see below).

Another international airport is located in Kraków ( http://www.lotnisko-balice.pl/eng/ ). This destination can be of interest for the participants who would like to visit this wonderful town (see also Social Program). It is possible to reach Ustroń from Kraków through Katowice.

From Katowice, Ustroń can be easily reached by a local train (see below) or even by taxi. The cost of the taxi trip is not very high, especially when at least three persons are traveling.

By train:

There are many direct local trains from Katowice to Ustron (destination: Wisla). The trip takes up to 2 hours mainly due to the large number of stops. There is also a direct express train from Warsaw to Ustron (destination: Wisla) which runs only on weekends. Timetables will be available later. The trip from Warsaw takes 4 h 15 min by a direct train and about 5 h 30 min with a change of trains in Katowice.

It is important to get off the train on the Ustron-Zdrój station, not just Ustron. Ustron-Zdrój is the next station after Ustron. For a route from the Ustron-Zdrój railway station to the "Muflon" hotel - see map.

By car:

Ustron is located near Cieszyn (ca. 20 km) which is one of the main road border crossings in southern Poland, easily accessible from Czech Republic and Slovakia. From Cieszyn take the main road E75 for ca. 15 km and then turn right on a 2-level crossing to Wisla. After about 6 km you will reach Ustron. For the entire route see maps.

When traveling from Katowice (which is the best route for the people entering Poland from Germany using A4 highway) take the road No. 81 in the direction to Skoczów or Wisla. It will take you directly to Ustron (ca. 70 km from the A4 highway in Katowice).

Warning: please do not travel by the main E75 road through Bielsko-Biala! The road between Bielsko-Biala and Cieszyn is under general reconstruction which causes traffic jams!

For planning your car trip I recommend the online ViaMichelin Route Planner:  http://www.viamichelin.com.
